Jessie Thompson - Licensed Massage Therapist
For nearly 14 years, Jessie has enjoyed working with all levels of athlete from the weekend warrior to members of the University of Portland Pilots Women’s Soccer team and Portland Trail Blazers and members of the Red Bull Airforce and Red Bull Skydiving Team. Her style is wholistic and integrative, joining an acute understanding of Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, and movement with a wide array of manual therapy techniques that she combines for intuitive and intentional work to calm the nervous system, relieve pain, and restore function and mobility. Her deep tissue manipulations are performed slowly, based on her clients’ feedback. She has a history with rehab work specifically related to auto injuries, trauma, sport injuries, chronic pain management, and repetitive stress injuries and has a talent for increasing performance, function, range of motion, stabilization, and structural reintegration to help improve the lives and careers of the people she touches.
As a professional athlete, Jessie is tuned in to movement and the effects of repetitive stress and training hard for optimal performance. Having sustained and recovered from auto injuries and repetitive stress injuries herself, she is hyper aware of the importance of bodywork and self-care and is a firm believer in getting maintenance for longevity and quality of life. She views her style of massage therapy work to be the “oil change” and not the “car wash.” She specializes in neck pain, low back pain, and extremity injuries.
“I make it my goal to educate my clients about their bodies; helping them to decrease pain and prevent injury by explaining the anatomy, healing process and goals of our treatment sessions. I encourage people to be invested in their health and well-being and to pay attention to the many facets of themselves. I enjoy working closely with other members of my clients' team to help them achieve their goals. I have worked with coaches, trainers, medical doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, and family members to help my clients reach their dreams. I enjoy being a collaborative part of the healing process.”
